Mucast Privacy Policy
Mucast is a Mac app for live streaming, made by Freede Consultancy in the Netherlands. This policy explains what the app does with your data, and what we keep if you sign in to buy Pro. In short: your video, your audio and your stream keys never reach us.
Who is responsible
Freede Consultancy, the Netherlands, is the controller for the personal data described here (company details: terms of use, “Who we are”). You can reach us at info@ioscorner.com. This policy covers the Mucast app and Mucast accounts.
This website, getmucast.com, sets no cookies and contains no advertising or third-party content. Our web server records each request (your IP address, the page and your browser) only to run and secure the site.
To count visits we use Umami, an analytics tool that we run on our own server (analytics.ioscorner.com), not a third party. It records the page you view, the site that sent you, your browser, operating system, device type and country. It uses no cookies, does not store your IP address and cannot follow you to other websites. We use these counts only to see which pages people read.
What stays on your Mac
- Your show. Video and audio from your cameras, screen, microphones, files and iPhone are mixed on your Mac and sent directly to the platforms you choose. They never pass through our servers.
- Stream keys and platform sign-ins. Stream keys, and the tokens from signing in to YouTube or Twitch, are stored in your Mac’s Keychain, on that Mac only and never synced. Mucast keeps them out of its logs and diagnostics.
- Recordings and settings are saved on your Mac, in the places you choose.
- No ads and no tracking across apps. Mucast shows no advertising and never follows you to other apps or websites. It can send anonymous usage statistics (see below), which you can turn off.
Services the app talks to
Mucast connects to other services only to do what you ask:
- The streaming platforms you add (for example YouTube, Twitch, Kick, TikTok, Instagram or Facebook) receive your stream at the address and with the key you enter. If you sign in to YouTube (Google) or Twitch inside Mucast, the app uses their APIs to create broadcasts, fetch your stream key, show your channel name and read your chat. Each platform handles that data under its own privacy policy.
- Upload test. When you run the upload test, Mucast sends random test data to Cloudflare’s speed test (speed.cloudflare.com). Cloudflare sees your IP address, as with any connection.
- OBS 4K on your iPhone. When you open the OBS 4K camera picker, Mucast looks for iPhones running OBS 4K on your local network. That connection stays inside your network.
- Updates. Mucast checks
getmucast.comfor new versions. Like any web request, this shows our server your IP address and the app’s version. We use these server logs only to run and secure the service.
Usage statistics in the app
From version 1.0.2, Mucast sends anonymous usage statistics, so we can see which features people use and where streams go wrong. They go to Google Analytics for Firebase, which Google Ireland Limited runs for us as a processor.
- What we send: which features you use, as fixed words and numbers. For example: that a stream started, to how many and which kinds of platforms (such as YouTube or Twitch), in which orientation, resolution and frame rate, roughly how long it ran, which kind of error ended it, which screens you open, and whether you have Pro.
- What Firebase adds by itself: a random ID for this installation, the Mucast and macOS versions, your Mac’s model, your language, and an approximate location (country, region and city) worked out from your IP address. Google Analytics does not store IP addresses.
- What we never send: your name, email address or account details, stream keys, titles, chat, scene or source names, file names, or anything you type. Advertising features are switched off: no advertising identifier and no ad personalisation.
- Turning it off: Settings → Privacy → “Share anonymous usage statistics”. While it is off, Mucast sends no statistics.
Google may process this data in the United States, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the EU’s standard contractual clauses.
If you sign in: your Mucast account
You don’t need an account for the free tier. Pro is bought and managed inside the app with a Mucast account. Mucast accounts are run by Freede Consultancy on account.getmucast.com. For an account we keep:
- your email address and the name you give us;
- how you sign in: with your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash), plus a code we email you;
- your purchases and plan status (plan, renewal date, trial, refunds), so the app knows whether you have Pro;
- the Macs where you use Pro, at most five: a device name and a key that this Mac creates, so a purchase can’t be shared without limit;
- sign-in sessions and security records, such as failed sign-in attempts, to protect your account.
We send account emails, such as sign-in codes and purchase confirmations, from no-reply@ioscorner.com through our email provider.
Payments
Pro is paid through Stripe. Stripe’s company Link is the seller of record: it takes the payment, charges and pays VAT, sends receipts and invoices, and handles refunds and disputes. Your card or other payment details go to Stripe and Link, never to us; their privacy policies apply to that processing. Stripe tells us what we need to run your account: your email address, country, plan, payment status and a fingerprint of the payment method (a code that identifies the card without revealing its number), which we use to allow one free trial per person and payment method.
Problem reports and feature requests
When you report a problem or request a feature on getmucast.com/feedback/, we receive your email address, your message and any details you add (the area of Mucast, your macOS and Mucast versions). The message is stored on our own server and forwarded to our support mailbox. We use it only to answer you and to improve Mucast, and we never add your address to a mailing list or send you anything you didn’t ask about. Your IP address is used only to limit how many messages one connection can send; it isn’t stored with the message.
Why we use it, and for how long
- We use account and purchase data to provide the account and Pro you asked for (performance of a contract), to keep the service secure and prevent abuse (legitimate interest), and to meet bookkeeping and tax duties (legal obligation).
- Account data is kept until you delete your account. Deleting it cancels any running subscription first.
- Purchase records are kept for seven years, as Dutch bookkeeping law requires, without your name or email address once the account is deleted.
- Problem reports and feature requests are kept for up to two years, so we can follow up when a fix or feature ships, and deleted sooner if you ask (legitimate interest in answering you and improving Mucast).
- Usage statistics help us improve Mucast (legitimate interest). Google Analytics keeps them for two months, then deletes them.
- Server logs are kept only as long as needed to run and secure the service.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to move it, or to stop using it, by writing to info@ioscorner.com. You can also delete your account yourself. If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the authority where you live. To withdraw from a purchase, use Withdraw from contract here.
Children
Mucast accounts are not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update the date at the top. For important changes we tell account holders by email before they take effect.
