Restream pricing and the alternatives
Restream is free for 2 channels, then $19, $49 or $239 a month, less when paid yearly. It works as a relay: you send one stream and Restream copies it to each platform. Whether it is worth paying for depends on your upload speed, how many platforms you use and whether you want a studio in the browser.
Restream’s plans in November 2026
These are the monthly prices on Restream’s pricing page on 1 November 2026, in US dollars.
| Plan | Per month | Channels at once | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 2 | Restream branding on Studio streams; Studio at 720p; no custom RTMP channels |
| Standard | $19 | 3 | No Restream branding; Studio at 720p |
| Professional | $49 | 5 | Studio at 1080p; landscape and portrait at once from Studio |
| Business | $239 | 8 | Team workspaces, website player |
| Enterprise | Ask Restream | Custom | SSO, SRT ingest, stream backup |
Yearly billing is marked “Save 20%” on the page. A third-party check in October 2026 put it at $190 a year for Standard, $470 for Professional and $2,390 for Business, or about $16, $39 and $199 a month.
Add-ons cost extra each month: Clips from $19, Webinars from $99 and extra team seats at $25 each.
The 720p and 1080p limits are for Restream Studio, Restream’s studio in the browser. The page lists video up to 4K for multistreaming on every plan, which covers a stream you send from OBS or another encoder. Restream also says it adds less than 2 seconds of delay.
What you pay for
Restream is a relay. Your computer uploads one stream, to Restream, and Restream’s servers send a copy to each platform. Three platforms at 6 Mb/s each need 6 Mb/s of upload instead of 18. Around that relay you get a studio in the browser with on-screen guests, chat from every platform in one place, analytics, cloud recordings and, on the Professional plan and above, a portrait and a landscape version of one Studio show.
The trade-offs: your video passes through Restream’s servers on its way to the platforms; every platform depends on your one upload to Restream; and some platforms still set their own rules. TikTok, for example, has to approve your account for third-party tools, and Restream says TikTok expects at least half of those streams to be gaming content. Instagram keys change every broadcast, so you paste a new one into Restream each time.
When Restream is the right tool
- Your upload is the limit. If your connection can’t carry one stream per platform, a relay is the simplest fix.
- You host guests. Restream Studio runs in the browser, so guests join with a link and nobody installs anything.
- You stream to many platforms. Business covers 8 at once, and Enterprise more.
- You want one chat and one set of numbers for every platform.
- Your computer is the bottleneck. With a relay your computer encodes and uploads one stream, whatever the number of platforms.
If none of these apply, and your upload covers every platform you use, you may not need a relay at all.
The alternatives
StreamYard
A studio in the browser, built around interviews and guests, that relays to your platforms like Restream does. On StreamYard’s pricing page, Essential costs $18.99 a month ($14.99 a month billed yearly) for 2 destinations at 1080p; Core costs $44.99 ($35.99 yearly) for 3 destinations, no StreamYard logo and custom RTMP destinations; Advanced costs $88.99 ($68.99 yearly) for 8. The free plan streams to one destination at a time and shows the StreamYard logo.
Good for shows with remote guests and people who want nothing to install. Less good if you need many platforms cheaply, or a custom RTMP destination, which starts at Core.
Castr
A cloud service for multistreaming and for hosting video with its own player. On Castr’s pricing page, Starter costs $19.99 a month ($199.99 a year) for 6 multistream destinations, with a 7-day trial without a card; Standard costs $49.99 ($499.99 a year) for 10, and Premium $199.99 ($1,999.99 a year) for 20. Plans include player bandwidth and video storage.
Good for broadcasters who also embed live or recorded video on their own website, and anyone who needs many destinations at the entry price. Less good if you only want to reach a few social platforms and don’t need hosting.
OBS with a multistream plugin
Free. Multiple RTMP Outputs or Aitum Multistream adds one output per platform to OBS Studio on Windows, macOS or Linux. There is no relay: each platform is a separate upload from your computer, and each separate encoder adds processor or graphics load.
Good for anyone who already uses OBS and has the upload for every platform. Less good for people who don’t want to match plugin versions to each OBS update or work out encoder settings. See how to multistream with OBS.
Streamlabs Desktop Dual Output
Streamlabs Desktop runs on Windows 10 or later and macOS 12 or later. Its Dual Output streams to one landscape and one portrait platform at the same time for free, both sent from your computer. Three or more platforms, or two in the same shape, need Streamlabs Ultra, which Streamlabs prices at $27 a month or $189 a year; Ultra’s multistreaming sends one stream to Streamlabs’ servers, which relay it.
Good for a free pair such as YouTube in landscape and TikTok in portrait. Less good if you need two platforms in the same shape without paying for Ultra.
Mucast
Mucast is the Mac app this site is for, so weigh this part accordingly. It streams one show from your Mac straight to each platform, with no relay: the show is encoded once in hardware and each platform gets its own connection, so a slow platform doesn’t hold up the others. The free version streams to 2 platforms at once, up to 1080p at 30 fps, with no watermark and no account. Pro adds every platform at once, 60 fps and more than 3 scenes for $19.99 a month, $180 a year (with a 7-day trial) or $399 once.
Good for streamers on a Mac with Apple silicon who want a studio app and no monthly relay fee. Less good on Windows, on Intel Macs or before macOS 26; with a slow upload, because you send about 6 Mb/s per platform in landscape and about 4 Mb/s in portrait; and for remote guests, since it is a studio on your Mac, not in the browser. Each show streams in one shape, landscape or portrait, not both at once.

How to choose
- Slow upload or many platforms: a relay such as Restream, Castr or Streamlabs Ultra.
- Guests joining from their browser: StreamYard or Restream Studio.
- Free, and happy to set things up: OBS with a plugin.
- One landscape and one portrait platform, free: Streamlabs Dual Output, or OBS with Aitum Vertical and Aitum Multistream.
- A Mac with Apple silicon, an upload that covers each platform, and no relay: Mucast.
Questions
Short answers to what people ask most about this.
Is Restream free?
Yes, for 2 channels at once. Streams made in Restream Studio carry Restream branding, Studio is limited to 720p, and custom RTMP channels need a paid plan.
How much does Restream cost per year?
Restream’s pricing page offers yearly billing marked “Save 20%”. A third-party check in October 2026 put it at $190 a year for Standard, $470 for Professional and $2,390 for Business.
Do I need Restream to multistream?
No. OBS with a plugin, Streamlabs Desktop and Mucast can send a separate stream from your computer to each platform. That needs enough upload for all of them; Restream needs enough for one.
Is Restream or StreamYard cheaper?
At the entry level they are close. Restream is free for 2 channels and $19 a month for 3. StreamYard’s free plan streams to one destination at a time, its $18.99 plan to 2, and its $44.99 plan to 3 without the StreamYard logo. Compare the plan that covers the number of platforms you need.
